Danish conductor Thomas Søndergård leads a program of fascinating contrasts. Beginning with a truly Classical symphony, we then move to VSO Concertmaster Dale Barltrop’s interpretation of the essentially late-Romantic First Violin Concerto by one of the twentieth century’s most important composers, Béla Bartók – then, it’s back to Beethoven, and the very first stirrings of the Romantic age.
