CHRIS THILE, MANDOLIN AND EDGAR MEYER, DOUBLE BASS

A concert that features two long neglected instruments, the mandolin and the double bass, in original musical compositions that fuse classical and bluegrass. Quite a feat!  We saw one champion of the mandolin last January, the very talented Avi Avital.  Now we get to see Chris Thile, praised in some quarters as "the most remarkable mandolinist in the world."   Edgar Meyer's unparalleled technique and musicianship on the double bass, combined with his distinguished record as a composer, has led The New Yorker to hail him as "the most remarkable virtuoso in the relatively unchronicled history of his instrument."  Both Thile and Meyer have had a long history of performing together and should offer an enlightening and entertaining experience for all types of music lovers.
